Hello friends...
I did it... I officially resigned from Union Central on Thursday. It was one of the hardest decsions I've ever made, but Eric and I feel its best in the interest of our children right now. I wish I could tell you that I'm not extremely anxious and have big knots in my stomach when I think of being unemployed for the first time since college- I do - however, I know it will work out and its the right thing for now.
My last day is not until June 6 (when school is out) but being an HR person, I felt the need to give them as much notice as possible. This gives them time to decide if they are replacing my position and if so, I can assist in the recruiting and selection process.
For those of you counting, I have been with Union Central 11 years- it has been my only "adult" place of employment. I can't say enough about the wonderful relationships I have at Union Central/Unifi. Personally, Eric and I met there 11 years ago, so without Union Central, I might not have my wonderful family. I have friendships there that I hope will last way beyond the 11 years I worked there. Professionally, I was given opportunites to grow and develop my career and I'm so grateful. Its been a great place to work and maybe, just maybe, I can even return there someday. That would be awesome. They even put my picture on a brochure a few years ago (http://unificompanies.com/pdf/UN1015.pdf - I'm on page 14, the quote they wrote for me is on page 15).
All that said... I'm looking forward to my first summer off with Evan and Emily. This will be Evan's first summer off in his life- no daycare, no camps. We are all very excited.

Congrats Jen. It is a tough decision, but I don't blame you. I am thinking of doing the same thing myself. FYI, you have gorgeous children. I liked them in the Kentucky gear. BTW, did you see where USD (my place of employment) beat Kentucky in the regular season? We were shocked, but pleased. Sorry, had to rub it in. :)
